    These are my goals:

  1. To attempt to convince OSHA, MSHA, et al, that fluid power is an occupational hazard by presenting evidence in the form of:
Reports of deaths and injuries suffered by untrained workers.
Frequency of deaths and injuries related to fluid power.
Accidents related to poor hydraulic system design.
Misinformation provided by machinery and equipment manufacturers that can lead to accidents.
Unrealistic accident summaries provided by OSHA and MSHA that prove that OSHA and MSHA inspectors do not have the skill sets needed to properly investigate accidents related to fluid power.
Exposing companies that allow untrained people to work on and around hydraulic systems with little or no training.
Hydraulic component test procedures provided by machinery and equipment manufacturers, and others, that could lead to severe injury, death, or substantial property damage.
    Inconsistencies in OSHA’s 29 CFR 1910.147 Control of Hazardous Energy - Lockout/Tagout.

  2. To provide dozens of accidents and near-misses related to hydraulics for the purpose of helping untrained workers avoid accidents.

  3. To question the International Fluid Power Society’s Technician Certification program. How much do technicians that hold FPS credentials really know about hydraulics?

  4. To rate the quality of fluid power education provided by technical schools and colleges across the country.

  5. To work with technical schools and colleges to bring about a national standard for fluid power education in the USA.
